Custom Formula

Despite all the formulas provided by Boltic, you may need one that meets your need. The Custom formula is a combination of predefined formulas (MIN, MAX, SUM, AVG) and operators ( +, -, *, %) that calculates the values of a specific column. This transformation type performs the mathematical operations on the source column and populates the new values in the new column, which is referred to as a "Target Column".

Steps to Apply Custom Formula Transformation

This guide will give you a brief idea of what steps you need to follow to apply the Custom Formula Transformation in a queried data.

Step 1: Add Transformation Type

First, visit the "Add Transformation" page to add the Custom Formula transformation.

Step 2: Select Target Column

Click the Select Target Column dropdown choose the existing column to store the transformed data.

Select

Step 3: Create Formula

After choosing the target column the formula dialogue box gets opened. Here you can create a custom formula by using mathematical operators and predefined formulas

Create
  • Click on the Create a new column to populate the result in the new column

Use Advanced Option

Advanced
  • To use advanced options. First, click on the Advanced Options down arrow

  • Now, click on the Target Column Type dropdown to specify the data type of the target column

Type

Note

If your target column data type is decimal and you want an exact numeric, you can specify the scale (Scale can be positive or negative) and precision (the total number of digits, both to the left and the right of the decimal point)

If the scale is not specified, the default scale is 4. If the precision is not specified, the default precision is 20

Step 4: Save the Configuration

Click the Save button to save the configuration

Add Another Transformation

After defining the first Transformation, you can add multiple transformations to the defined Transformation or add another new Transformation step to a bot This flexibility helps you to get the desired output in one go.

Step 5: Save & Test Transformation

Once you have done with the above-mentioned steps, click the Save & Test button to test and save the Transformation
