Introduction to Bolt

A Bolt is a data pipeline consisting of a series of actions - Integration, Transformation, and Destination. At Boltic, the process of integrating data source, creating a dataset, transforming it, and then loading it into a destination defines as a Bolt.

Create a New Bolt

  • To build a new bolt, click the New Bolt button on the Bolt listing page

  • Give a meaningful name to your Bolt

Add Integration

Adding an Integration is the first step of all the activities that you will do to create a bolt.

  • Click the Add Integration to add a new Integration

  • Give a meaningful name to the Integration

  • If you have already added an Integration from the Integration listing page, you can click the Select Integration to select your existing Integration

Create Dataset

You can slice a piece of a dataset from the Integration using query or visual modes.

  • Select Table for which you want to write a query

  • Add Filters

  • Give a meaningful name to your dataset

  • Click Continue and then Test & Save

Select Existing Dataset

  • Click the Select Dataset dropdown to select an existing dataset

  • Click Continue and then Test & Save

Using Boltic's Transformation, you can change the dataset's structure, format, or value. Each transformation type has a unique set of options that you can configure.

  • Give a meaningful name to the Transformation

  • Select a Transformation Type you want to perform the created dataset

  • Click + to add a new transformation step in a bolt

  • Define Transformation and save it

  • Click Add New to add multiple transformations in the Transformation that work as a group itself.

  • Click Save & Test to save the Transformation

You might want to load your transformed data to a different location than the one initially connected to Bolt. Bolt supports destinations such as BQ, Email, and Files and imports your transformed data to your preferred Destination in a minute.

  • Click the Send your Data here to load transformed data to a preferred Destination

  • Once you select your preferred Destination, perform its configuration steps

  • Click Save
